About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Solution Architect to join our growing technology team. This role is ideal for someone with a foundation in AWS cloud technologies and solution architecture who is eager to build on their skills while contributing to the design and delivery of modern, scalable systems.

As a Junior Solution Architect, you will work closely with senior architects and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. You'll gain exposure to architectural best practices, cloud-native design, and enterprise integration, while helping shape solutions that are secure, efficient, and aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and documentation of solution architectures across applications, data, and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with senior architects to evaluate technical requirements and recommend appropriate AWS services and cloud-native patterns.
  • Assist in creating technical diagrams, architecture decision records, and design documentation.
  • Contribute to proof-of-concepts (POCs), pilots, and technical evaluations for new technologies and tools.
  • Ensure alignment with architectural standards, security policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in project delivery, working with engineers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure solutions are implemented as designed.
  • Stay up to date with AWS advancements and emerging architecture practices.

Skills & Experience

Required:

  • Hands-on experience with some AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM).
  • Exposure to solution architecture — designing systems, integrations, or cloud-based applications.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile delivery methods.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse technical challenges.
  • Good communication skills to explain complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred / Nice to Have:

  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or higher).
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Exposure to security and compliance considerations in cloud environments.

Why Apply?

  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Up to 5% employer pension contribution
  • Educational allowance, training programmes, certifications, conference attendance, and other activities to help employees stay current with new technologies and industry trends.
  • Flexible Working Arrangements
