About Us: We are the Information Intelligence Group (IIG) of CACI UK, a technical consultancy providing bespoke solutions to solve our customers' complex operational problems. Working as part of the Mood business at CACI IIG, we are looking for an experienced UX Design Engineer to join one of our product teams. Mood is a large-scale data visualisation platform designed to bring disparate systems together into a single, coherent working model for management and future planning.

The Opportunity: This is a hands-on senior role covering UX research, web accessibility (WCAG 2.2), design systems and cross-functional collaboration. Our platform is part of a suite of tools built on top of an established business architecture modelling engine, giving customers a way to visualise, structure and interact with complex organisational and process data. The suite spans several connected products, from modelling and content authoring through to reporting and integration, allowing different types of users, from technical solution builders to everyday end users, to work with the same underlying data in ways suited to their role.

The core product you would be working on to begin with is a responsive, web-based authoring tool that lets users build and structure content on a flexible canvas. It represents a significant modernisation of an older, desktop-only tool, moving the experience to something more visual, accessible and intuitive while retaining the depth needed for enterprise use. Customers span sectors including defence and government adjacent industries, which brings additional considerations around accessibility, data handling and security.

You will work closely with product owners, developers and customers to shape the direction of the product and ensure it meets the needs of a range of user types across the platform. Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and facilitate usability testing sessions with internal stakeholders and external customers including coordinating note taking and ensuring findings are captured objectively ahead of analysis.
  • Synthesise research findings into clear structured documentation that links insight directly to specific product areas and user questions.
  • Translate research insight into well-structured tickets for the development backlog covering both defects and improvements.
  • Champion accessibility as a built-in constraint rather than a retrofit ensuring all features meet recognised accessibility standards.
  • Contribute to and maintain design documentation.
  • Work upstream of ticket refinement sessions to bring UX input into the process early rather than resolving issues within scheduled calls.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams including colleagues based in various locations and time zones to bridge design and development.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and informal mentorship/support to a junior UI designer supporting their development without formal line management responsibility.
  • Support and contribute to working groups addressing handoff and quality assurance process gaps between design and development.

Tools You Would be Using:

  • Figma Design
  • FigJam Research Findings
  • Jira Project/Sprint Management
  • Confluence Documentation

What are we looking for:

  • Proven experience as a UX Designer or UX Lead ideally within enterprise or B2B software.
  • Strong facilitation skills for usability testing with both technical and non-technical participants.
  • Solid understanding of accessibility standards and practical experience implementing them including inclusive keyboard navigation patterns.
  • Experience synthesising qualitative research into actionable design and development outputs.
  • Comfortable working within agile delivery workflows and contributing to sprint ceremonies.
  • Familiarity with modern design and prototyping tools and collaborative whiteboarding software.
  • Experience working with unmoderated testing platforms.
  • Experience collaborating with international teams and stakeholders across time zones.
  • Due to the industries we work in, we require all our team to be able to obtain security clearance. To qualify for this, you must be a British passport holder and have lived permanently in the UK for the last 5 years.

Culture & Benefits: We take great pride in taking care of our talent, providing a highly dynamic, inclusive and team-led environment where everyone can thrive. We value every member of our business, and strive to be a place you're excited to work. Our market-leading package of benefits reflects this.

  • WELLBEING - Free 24/7 counselling helpline and employee assistance programme.
  • WORK YOUR BEST - City-centre offices across the UK, combined with flexitime and at home working.
  • LEARN & GROW - Assigned Career Coach to holistically guide development.
  • SOCIAL - Get-togethers throughout the year, from ad hoc socials to the Summer Party in London and annual away days.
  • ONSITE ALLOWANCES - expenses for lunch and drinks.

Equal Opportunities: CACI is proud to be an equal opportunities employer. Embracing the diversity of our people, we are on a journey to build a truly inclusive work environment where no one is treated less favourably due to ethnic origin, age, sex, gender identity, veteran status, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marital status, and disability or health condition, actively working to prevent discrimination.

As a Disability Confident employer, we will:

  • Provide reasonable adjustments in the recruitment process where requested (contact a member of the recruitment team on 020 7602 6000 to discuss individual requirements further).
  • Offer people with health conditions and disabilities, meeting the minimum criteria for a role, an interview.

Our people are unique and we encourage, and support them, to be confident in contributing to our inclusion journey.
