Clearance Requirements: Due to the industries this role will be associated with, we require the successful candidate to be eligible for security clearance. To qualify for this, you must be a British Citizen and have lived permanently in the UK for the last 5 years.
Purpose of the Role: Working as part of CACI’s Information Intelligence Group (IIG), the Platform Engineer ensures the secure, reliable and compliant operation of several platform services that support the wider client ecosystem. Across the Team, there is a mixture of AWS and on-premise infrastructure and services so some of the role holders will need to have on-premise experience.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Operate platform services within core hours (08:00–18:00, Mon–Fri) with agreed P1 support outside hours when required.
- Maintain secure, stable AWS and on-premise environments for a number of Client Services.
- Provide L3 support, handling incidents, problems and changes within SLA.
- Monitoring and Support for all non-production environments.
- Maintenance and support for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) plans.
- Execute monthly patching cycles, upgrades and release activities across cloud and on-prem components, producing governance artefacts.
- Documentation of low-level designs.
- Support CI/CD tooling and environment readiness (SIT/PRP/UAT/Go-Live), including access management and catalogue items.
- Contribute to remediation of ITHC findings, vulnerability management and compliance reporting.
- Adherence to industry best practice and client policies.
- Support for all Release Management activities.
Knowledge & Skills Required:
- Experience operating secure AWS platforms (EC2, WorkSpaces, VPC, IAM, AMIs, patching pipelines).
- Windows/Linux platform engineering in enterprise environments.
- Exposure to on-prem platform work (switches, firewalls, virtualisation).
- Knowledge of secure remote desktop / VDI technologies.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, version control and monitoring toolsets.
Preferred / Nice to Have:
- Background in national security, policing or critical infrastructure environments.
- Familiarity with Governance, RBAC and Security Policies.
- Experience with Stash, Grafana, Jira, Confluence and Nexus.
