Position Summary As a Senior Linux Systems Administrator at CacheFly, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing critical aspects of our global content delivery network, as well as providing the highest level of support to customers and coworkers. This role is critical to ensure that our CDN operates with minimal latency, highest availability and maximum throughput. You will work closely with other systems administrators and architects to constantly improve the CDN, build monitoring systems, resolve issues, and implement system enhancements. Key Responsibilities Monitor and maintain virtual and physical Linux servers, ensuring system performance and availability. Deploy new systems, improve and automate the system deployment process. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for system issues, working closely with other teams and customers. Own certain aspects of the CDN, ensuring they operate at the highest level of performance and availability Improve infrastructure and customer documentation, update processes and procedures to ensure effective knowledge management and transfer. Improve automation by adopting DevOps principles and contributing to various internal configuration management tools and projects. Mentor and assist other system engineers and architects Requirements Availability for weekday shifts and occasional weekend coverage (12-hour shifts) Expert-level Linux administration experience, including optimizing Linux services, drivers and the kernel. Knowledge of network and routing protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, BGP, tunneling, etc. Deep understanding of the HTTP protocol(s) and the ability to troubleshoot any HTTP or network related issues Deep understanding of Varnish, Nginx, bird/quagga, Linux firewalls, scripting languages Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on providing high-quality customer service.
