About the role

Cabrini’s Procurement & Supply Team oversees the management of sourcing and purchasing activity across the organisation with established processes to provide efficient access to the goods and services required for our staff to deliver high quality care to patients. The Purchasing Officer is responsible for the effective, efficient and cost effective management of discrete spend purchase orders for Cabrini Health. This role requires a candidate who will provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders and ensure a direct line of communication with service managers and vendors is maintained.

Your day will look a little like this:

Responsibility for purchase orders associated with both medical and indirect consumable categories

Managing purchase orders through to closure

Assist and support ensuring fit for purpose and fair priced goods and services are obtained in a timely manner

Competitively quote all requisitions where no contracted substitute exists ensuring compliance with company policies

Perform manual tasks including acceptance, packing and delivery of goods across the site

Tracking order activity and alert appropriate staff of any potential delivery problems, expedite the delivery of selected orders

Liaise with suppliers as required to ensure orders are delivered in full and on time

Analyse data for special reporting as required by management

Reconcile invoices, managing variances, discrepancies, returns and credits

Assisting with stocktakes when required

About you

The successful candidate will have well developed analytical and problem solving skills as well as the following:

1-3 years of relevant purchasing experience (healthcare sector in a medium to large multi-site organisation and/or experience in an acute hospital setting (highly regarded)

Experienced and highly skilled in utilising purchasing software (JD Edwards e-Procurement highly advantageous)

Ability to effectively work both autonomously and within a team environment, providing support and cover to roles as directed

Well developed commercial/negotiating/influencing skills with the ability to finalise negotiations within tight deadlines

Ability to prioritise workflow in accordance with conflicting demands

Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)

Willingness to be accountable and accept responsibility

Competency in the use of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.)

The ability to apply high ethical standards and represent the organisation in a professional manner
