Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) will support nursing teams in acute inpatient specialties, assisting patients with personal care, mobility, observation and ward operations.

About the Role

  • Assist with personal care including hygiene, dressing, feeding and toileting
  • Assist with patient mobility, transfers and manual handling
  • Assist with patient observation and routine care
  • Maintain a safe and organised ward environment
  • Support patient flow and ward operations
  • Provide compassionate, patient‑centred care within multidisciplinary teams

About You

  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance, Individual Support or equivalent
  • Current Nursing Student (Year 2 or above) with completed acute clinical placement
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work across a variety of clinical areas
  • Understanding of patient dignity, confidentiality and safe care principles
  • Availability to work a 24/7 roster
  • Acute hospital experience
  • Experience across multiple specialties
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and manual handling
  • Experience using electronic hospital systems
