As Curriculum Leader for English, you will provide strategic leadership across Key Stages 3 and 4, with responsibility for shaping and delivering an ambitious, engaging curriculum. You will oversee teaching and assessment to ensure consistently high standards of student achievement, while supporting and developing a team of committed English specialists. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and a passion for English, with the ability to inspire both staff and students and to foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.

About you:

  • Experience of working with children and young people.
  • Experience of assimilating information to facilitate the delivery of lesson plans effectively.
  • A basic knowledge and understanding of the curriculum.
  • Excellent standard of oral and written communication skills and ability to understand and convey information effectively.
  • Good organisational and efficient administration skills.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with teachers and other academy staff.
  • The skills to participate in class discussions in an informed and sensitive manner.

Hanham Woods Academy is a secondary school located within the outskirts of Bristol and South Gloucestershire, delivering education to pupils aged 11-16. It is one of the most improved academies in the South West, providing an excellent education to over 800 students. The academy has a growing reputation both locally and regionally.
