Position Overview
The Assistant Restaurant Manager leads by example, embodying the Cabot values of confidence, humility, authenticity, and warmth to create a welcoming and professional dining environment. They communicate clearly and positively with both guests and team members, supporting seamless service and strong team engagement. With a proactive approach to problem-solving, they respond effectively to guest needs and operational challenges. A strong eye for presentation and detail ensures exceptional standards of service are consistently delivered. The role requires an attentive manner, alongside a flexible and adaptable attitude. The Assistant Restaurant Manager works collaboratively within the team, reporting directly to the Restaurant Manager and assuming a team leadership role in the Manager’s absence.
Core Responsibilities and Competencies
- Assisting and supporting the Restaurant Manager in the day to day running of the restaurant
- Efficiently run the restaurant in the absence of the Restaurant Manager
- Ensure timely, personalised, friendly, and efficient food and beverage service is provided to our guests, and any guest issues are resolved in a timely manner
- Assisting with the opening or closing of the clubhouse
- Cashing and locking up at end of the day as required
- Assisting in rota management and managing team breaks on shift
- Playing an active role in the stock management in all F&B locations on property
- Assisting with ordering of stock and invoicing
- Liaising closely with chefs, kitchen staff and starter pavilion staff
- Ensure a safe, clean and productive work environment always
- Be proactively familiar with all Health & Safety procedures promoting a safe work environment for yourself, guests and colleagues
- Communicate effectively with restaurant team and restaurant supervisor
- Engaging in training activities to enhance your own personal and professional development
- Assisting with driving guests on and off site to accommodation as required
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in restaurant supervision is essential
- Alcohol licensing training in Scotland is desirable
- Strong knowledge of food and beverage service and the daily operations of a fast-paced hospitality environment
- Working knowledge of wines, spirits, and beers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible availability to work mornings, evenings, weekdays, and weekends as required
- Eligible to drive company vehicles (minimum age 23 with a clean driving license)
- Knowledge of, or experience with, Health & Safety standards within a hospitality setting
