Cablex is growing its UK presence and offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Process Engineer to help launch a new manufacturing facility and establish aerospace and defence production from the ground up. This is a hands‑on, technically focused role where you’ll shape manufacturing processes from the ground up, working closely with production, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to establish efficient, repeatable, and compliant electro‑mechanical manufacturing operations.
What you’ll be doing:
- Developing, implementing, and optimising manufacturing processes, tooling, jigs, and fixtures
- Driving continuous improvement across low‑volume, high‑complexity aerospace and defence production
- Supporting electro‑mechanical and electrical assemblies, including cable and wire harness processes
- Improving utilisation of manufacturing and test equipment and supporting new equipment introduction
- Resolving shop‑floor build issues and embedding robust, practical assembly methods
- Supporting NPI, industrialisation, and controlled process changes
- Working with Quality to ensure compliance with AS9100, IPC, DEF‑STAN and related standards
What we’re looking for:
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
- Proven experience in a process or manufacturing engineering role within a regulated industry
- Strong understanding of manufacturing methods, tooling, fixtures, and production equipment
- Hands‑on approach with the ability to work directly on the shop floor
- Experience supporting electro‑mechanical and/or electrical assemblies
- Structured problem‑solver with a practical, delivery‑focused mindset
- Desirable experience includes: IPC‑A‑620 / IPC‑WHMA, AS9100, NPI or industrialisation support, and CAD capability for tooling or fixture concepts.
Be part of a new UK facility and help shape production from the outset. Work on meaningful aerospace and defence programmes. High level of influence without line management responsibility. Collaborative environment with a strong focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Other requirements:
- Right to work in the UK
- Ability to obtain security clearance (BPSS / SC)
