Cabin is an established post production home built on collaboration and dedication to the craft. Our London based office is looking for a full-time edit assistant to join and support our team. Seeking a mid weight Assistant Editor (AE) with a minimum of 2 years experience in post production.

POSITION SUMMARY: The AE is responsible for working closely with Editors and Producers to support the editorial process by organising, managing, and preparing media assets, ensuring smooth workflows from project setup and organisation through final delivery. This includes ingesting and transcoding footage, maintaining project organisation, assisting with edits, and preparing materials for colour, VFX, conform and audio teams. They will play a critical role in maintaining the technical quality and efficiency of the post-production process, enabling Editors to focus on delivering the highest creative standards. Successful candidates have excellent communication and follow-up skills with advertising agencies, directors and production companies, as well as internal communications.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Thorough understanding of Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut X, understanding and experience assisting in Avid Media Composer is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the standard commercial post production workflow and pipeline.
  • Set up projects in Premiere or Final Cut X following company organisational practices.
  • Load and breakdown footage accurately according to each editor’s individual preferences.
  • If we receive footage un-transcoded - the AE must transcode it to appropriate edit specs.
  • Liaise with Production regarding any situations related to footage we receive.
  • Organise and post links using Frame.io.
  • Execute comps (basic knowledge of After Effects is desirable).
  • Complete finishing preps and turnovers for audio, colour, vfx and conform.
  • Search for temp music and SFX using agency or editor provided briefs.
  • Source and record scratch VO.
  • Resize spots for alternate aspect ratios (16x9 to 9x16, 1x1, 4x5 etc).
  • Execute small edit tweaks or cutdowns with editor supervision.
  • Check WIP VFX and Conforms against locked offline edits.
  • Conform out of Premiere.
  • Work with library to get job elements to final storage destinations on schedule.
  • Remain up to date on latest editing software advancements.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of the various video codecs.

  • Team player with an understanding of classic commercial post-production team dynamics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot on the fly and apply knowledge to new situations, while remaining calm under pressure.
  • Possession of a client-facing demeanour including maturity, discretion and helpfulness.
  • Thorough attention to detail and organisation.
  • A knowledge of FCPx or a willingness to learn through supported training.
  • Adaptability and flexibility.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritise accurately.
  • Open to travel.
