A well-established engineering business operating within a technically demanding environment is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead and optimise its production function. The organisation is known for delivering high-quality engineered solutions and is entering an exciting phase of growth and operational development.
The Role
This is a hands-on Workshop Manager position with responsibility for overseeing day-to-day production activity, managing people and workflow, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The role plays a key part in coordinating teams, resources, and schedules while working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
Responsibilities of the Workshop Manager:
- Lead, manage, and develop workshop personnel, promoting strong performance and engagement
- Plan and control workflow, labour, materials, and equipment to meet production deadlines
- Ensure health and safety standards are upheld and the workshop environment is well maintained
- Coordinate production activities while liaising with internal teams and external suppliers
Requirements of the Workshop Manager:
- Formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline
- Proven experience in a workshop or production management role within an engineering environment
- Strong knowledge of machining, fabrication, and production processes, including CNC and manual methods
- Confident leader with excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
