This is a standalone Health and Safety Officer position, responsible for delivering clear, consistent and practical health and safety support across a varied and complex site. Reporting into senior leadership, you will act as a trusted advisor, promoting a positive health and safety culture while ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation. The role offers genuine breadth, autonomy and the opportunity to make a visible impact across the organisation.
Responsibilities of the Health and Safety Officer:- Lead and manage all aspects of health and safety compliance, ensuring alignment with current UK legislation and best practice
- Conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections and audits, investigating incidents and implementing preventative measures
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve health and safety policies, procedures and reporting systems
- Deliver training, provide expert advice to managers, and oversee external contractors including site security providers
- IOSH qualified as a minimum, with NEBOSH General Certificate and at least three years’ post-qualification experience
- Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation within a complex, multi-functional environment
- Proven experience developing and embedding health and safety processes, procedures and systems
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence, challenge constructively and build effective working relationships at all levels
