Our client is a well-established and highly respected organisation operating within a unique, multi-site environment in South Devon. This is a standalone Health and Safety Officer position, responsible for delivering clear, consistent and practical health and safety support across a varied and complex site. Reporting into senior leadership, you will act as a trusted advisor, promoting a positive health and safety culture while ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation. The role offers genuine breadth, autonomy and the opportunity to make a visible impact across the organisation.

Responsibilities of the Health and Safety Officer:
  • Lead and manage all aspects of health and safety compliance, ensuring alignment with current UK legislation and best practice
  • Conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections and audits, investigating incidents and implementing preventative measures
  • Develop, maintain and continuously improve health and safety policies, procedures and reporting systems
  • Deliver training, provide expert advice to managers, and oversee external contractors including site security providers
Requirements of the Health and Safety Officer:
  • IOSH qualified as a minimum, with NEBOSH General Certificate and at least three years’ post-qualification experience
  • Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation within a complex, multi-functional environment
  • Proven experience developing and embedding health and safety processes, procedures and systems
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence, challenge constructively and build effective working relationships at all levels
