Due to increased operational requirements and recent contract awards, our client is seeking an experienced PCV Training Instructor to join their established training team on an initial two‑month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional instructor with recent experience in driver training who can quickly integrate into the operation and support the development of both new and existing drivers.
Responsibilities
- Deliver practical driver training to new recruits to prepare them for their PCV driving test.
- Assess and coach new and existing drivers to improve driving standards and performance.
- Conduct driving observations and provide constructive feedback.
- Deliver familiarisation training across a range of vehicle types.
- Deliver classroom‑based training covering operational procedures, safety standards, compliance requirements and company policies.
- Support driver inductions and onboarding programmes.
- Maintain accurate training records and assessment documentation.
- Work closely with the Lead Instructor to ensure training objectives are achieved.
- Promote a strong safety culture and high driving standards across the operation.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a PCV Training Instructor, Driver Trainer, Driver Assessor or similar role.
- Recent hands‑on experience delivering driver training within a passenger transport environment.
- Valid Category D (PCV) driving licence held for a minimum of three years.
- No current penalty points or endorsements.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills.
- Strong knowledge of the Highway Code, PCV regulations and driver compliance requirements.
- Ability to produce clear and concise training reports and assessments.
- Professional, organised and able to work independently.
Desirable Requirements
- Teaching, training or assessing qualification.
- Experience supporting trainee drivers through their PCV test process.
- Experience delivering Driver CPC or other compliance‑related training.

We are looking for an instructor who can hit the ground running from day one. You will be an experienced trainer with a professional approach, strong coaching ability and recent experience within a driver training environment. You will be confident working with drivers of varying experience levels and capable of delivering high‑quality training that supports safety, compliance and operational excellence.
Additional Information
Applications are welcomed from experienced PCV Training Instructors across the UK. For candidates who do not live within a reasonable commuting distance, accommodation support can be provided for the duration of the initial two‑month contract, subject to individual circumstances and agreement.

Umbrella rate: £33.20 per hour
