C9 Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established transport company, in their search for a skilled PSV Mechanic to join their dynamic Workshop Team at their head office in Stocklake, Aylesbury.
The Role
As a PSV Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing a large fleet of coaches and smaller vehicles. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability across the fleet. You will be part of a dedicated team, reporting to the Engineering Manager, and working alongside the General Manager, Senior Operations Manager, Workshop Team, Yard Operatives, and Drivers.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily safety inspections to ensure compliance with legal requirements
- Identify potential mechanical issues before they lead to breakdowns
- Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks (e.g., oil changes, filter replacements, brake repairs)
- Attend roadside callouts when required
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and manual methods
- Repair or replace key components, including engines, gearboxes, axles, suspension, and electrical systems
- Prepare vehicles for MOTs and ensure compliance with DVSA regulations
- Maintain roadworthiness and PSV operator standards across the fleet
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum Level 3 NVQ in a relevant field
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience in a similar role working with PSV/HGVs
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Well-organised with attention to detail
Desirable:
- PSV Licence (including CPC)
- Previous experience with HGVs/Coaches
- Knowledge of the coach travel industry
What’s On Offer?
- Competitive Pay – £20 per hour (~£39,000 - £40,000 per year)
- Overtime Available – £25 per hour (x 1.25 rate)
- Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:30 (40-hour week)
