Our Client is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager (PCV) to join their senior management team and play a critical role in keeping fleet and passengers moving safely and on time.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll have full responsibility for the Engineering function, ensuring outstanding standards of safety, compliance, reliability, and cost control. You'll lead, develop, and motivate a skilled Engineering team while shaping strategies that support the operational and commercial needs of the business. This is a hands-on leadership role where your decisions directly impact performance, compliance, and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and control engineering budgets, delivering cost-effective performance
  • Lead and develop the Engineering team, driving engagement, training, and compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with DVSA, Health & Safety, and operational legislation
  • Deliver and monitor KPIs across:
  • Vehicle inspection & servicing
  • MOT compliance
  • Fleet reliability & cleanliness standards
  • Oversee the effective use of diagnostic tools, workshop equipment, and engineering systems
  • Provide accurate cost analysis and insights to support operational planning
  • What you will bring to the role

    Essential Experience & Qualifications

    • Proven experience as an Engineering Manager in a PCV environment
    • Experience managing a large fleet or multi-site engineering operation
    • Recognised engineering qualification (e.g. Level 3 HGV City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent)
    • NEBOSH qualified
    • Strong knowledge of DVSA standards, H&S legislation, and engineering processes
    • Confident IT skills and attention to accurate reporting
    • Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends or anti-social hours when required

    Desirable Skills

    • CPC qualification (or working towards), ideally Transport Manager
    • Experience as a named individual on an Operator's Licence
