As a Senior Data & AI Consultant, you will be an integral member of our Data & AI practice, responsible for the high-quality delivery of modern data platforms and AI solutions. You will lead client engagements end-to-end: shaping requirements, designing architectures, guiding build teams, and ensuring solutions are secure, well-governed, and ready for production. You will combine strong engineering fundamentals (data modelling, integration, analytics) with practical Generative AI delivery (for example, retrieval‑augmented generation), and you will communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead discovery and solution shaping: run workshops, define requirements, propose options, and recommend architectures and delivery approaches.
- Plan and manage delivery activities across one or more workstreams (scope, RAID, estimates, dependencies), escalating early where needed.
- Support pre‑sales where required (contributing to proposals/SOWs, technical due diligence, and solution presentations).
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring delivery quality and identifying pragmatic follow‑on improvements.
- Design and deliver modern data platform solutions using Microsoft Fabric as the default platform and AI solutions on Azure, including security, governance, and operational readiness.
- Produce high‑quality deliverables: architecture diagrams, HLD/LLD, build/run documentation, and clear progress reporting.
- Mentor other team members and contribute to practice assets (templates, accelerators, standards, reusable code).
- Undertake other ad‑hoc duties and projects as required.
Skills Knowledge & Expertise
Technical Skills
- Demonstrable technical knowledge of Microsoft Fabric as the primary data platform (OneLake, Lakehouse/Warehouse, Notebooks, Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Semantic Models/Power BI), including security/governance and Git‑based delivery.
- Familiarity with Azure data services (for example ADLS/Azure SQL) and legacy Synapse/ADF patterns for migration is a plus.
- High level of competence coding in SQL and Python (and DAX where required), with an engineering mindset around testing, readability, and performance.
- Strong analytics capability across the Microsoft BI stack (Power BI, semantic modelling, governance and performance), with experience modernising from legacy MSBI where applicable.
- Demonstrable understanding of enterprise data concepts: dimensional modelling, lakehouse/warehouse patterns, metadata/lineage, data quality, and governance.
- Working knowledge of non‑Microsoft tools/platforms (for example Databricks, Snowflake, Tableau, Qlik, SAP BusinessObjects) to help clients make informed choices and integrate where needed.
- Demonstrable skills delivering Generative AI solutions on Azure (for example Azure OpenAI/Azure AI services) including retrieval‑augmented generation, Azure AI Search, evaluation/quality measurement, and responsible AI considerations.
- Strong consulting skills: discovery, requirements, backlog shaping, and producing clear deliverables (designs, estimates, plans, and documentation).
- Knowledge of designing and implementing ELT/ETL processes and integrating disparate line‑of‑business systems and databases (batch and, where required, streaming).
- Proven track record operating at a senior technical level (leading designs, making trade‑offs, and unblocking delivery teams).
- Able to establish credibility with clients through clear communication, strong delivery, and pragmatic recommendations.
- Demonstrated delivery expertise: manages scope, delivers to deadlines, and ensures solutions are operable (monitoring, supportability, documentation).
- Strong professional communication skills (written and oral), including the ability to explain complex data/AI topics simply.
- Experience producing high‑ and low‑level designs (HLD/LLD), including security, governance, and operational considerations.
Technical Skills (Advantageous)
- Strong experience implementing ingestion and orchestration in Microsoft Fabric (Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Notebooks), including CI/CD and environment promotion.
- Experience migrating from Azure Data Factory / Synapse pipelines is advantageous.

- Experience with complementary data prep / automation tooling (for example Alteryx or Power Platform).
- Experience with data warehouse automation tools (for example WhereScape RED) and/or metadata/governance tooling (for example Microsoft Purview).
Non‑Technical Skills
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and act as a credible advisor.
- Comfortable supporting pre‑sales: discovery, solution options, estimates, risks/assumptions, and contributing to proposals.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop junior team members through coaching, review, and structured learning.

- Strong presentation and facilitation skills for mixed audiences (technical deep dives through to exec‑level summaries).
- Experience working in consulting/professional services, including delivery governance, quality assurance, and client management.
- Problem‑solving mentality, leveraging internal and external experts appropriately and documenting decisions clearly.

- High attention to detail: produces clear design artefacts, repeatable implementation patterns, and reliable documentation.
- Strong analytical mindset: comfortable diagnosing data‑quality, performance, and reliability issues.
- Collaborative team member who can lead small delivery teams and coach others through review and pairing.
- Self‑motivated, accountable, and comfortable owning outcomes across multiple workstreams in parallel.
Experience

- Hands‑on experience delivering GenAI solutions (for example RAG) is highly desirable.
- Experience supporting pre‑sales and shaping delivery (discovery, proposals/SOW input, estimates, risks, and solution options), while managing stakeholder expectations.
- Experience delivering transformation projects and transitioning solutions into BAU/support with appropriate runbooks, monitoring, and knowledge transfer.
