You will work directly with data scientists, software engineers, and subject matter experts in the definition of new analytics capabilities able to provide our customers with the information they need to make proper decisions and enable their digital transformation.
You will help find the appropriate machine learning algorithms to answer those questions and implement those on the C3 AI Platform so they can run at scale.
Qualified candidates will have an in-depth knowledge of most common machine learning techniques and their application.
You will also understand the limitations of these algorithms and how to tweak them or derive from them to achieve similar results at large-scale.
This is a frontline role on some of the most consequential AI programmes in UK and European defence today.
You will help design and deploy AI that keeps aircraft and platforms mission-ready through predictive maintenance, that sharpens decision-making through Digital Targeting, and that sustains operations through logistics in contested and degraded environments.
These are live programmes with real operational stakes, delivered into demanding, secure settings across the UK MOD, NATO, and allied European partners.
Some travel to customer and partner locations should be expected.
Responsibilities Lead the research, design, implementation, and deployment of machine learning algorithms, intelligent agents, and optimisation solutions for enterprise applications leveraging the C3 AI Suite.
Assist and enable C3 AI's customers to build their own applications on the C3 AI Suite.
Contribute to the design and implementation of new features of the C3 AI Suite.
Analyse model performance across asset fleets, diagnose issues such as low risk scores or false positives, and recommend hyperparameter adjustments.
Collaborating with data and subject matter experts from C3 AI and its customer teams to seek, understand, validate, interpret, and correctly use new data elements.
This role supports defence programmes that require UK Security Clearance.
Candidates must hold, or be able to obtain and maintain, [SC / NATO] clearance.
Eligibility is set by the contracting authority and typically requires a minimum of five years’ continuous UK residence.
Qualifications MS or Ph D in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent fields.
Applied AI experience (generative AI, agentic solutions, regression and classification, supervised, and unsupervised learning).
Strong mathematical background (linear algebra, calculus, probability and statistics).
Experience with scalable ML (Map Reduce, streaming).
Ability to drive a project and work both independently and in a team.
Smart, motivated, can do attitude, and seeks to make a difference.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with Java Script and prototyping languages such as Python and R.
Experience with Java and Scala is a plus.
A portfolio of projects (Git Hub, papers, etc.) is a plus.
