Role Overview

As a member of the C3 AI Data Science team, you will work with large enterprises to build AI‑powered applications on the C3 AI Platform. You will collaborate with data scientists, software engineers and subject matter experts to define new analytics capabilities, select appropriate machine learning algorithms, and implement them at scale. This frontline role supports defence programmes in the UK and Europe, focusing on predictive maintenance, digital targeting and logistics for aircraft and platforms in secure settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead research, design, implementation and deployment of machine learning algorithms, intelligent agents and optimisation solutions for enterprise applications using the C3 AI Suite.
  • Assist customers in building their own applications on the C3 AI Suite.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of new features of the C3 AI Suite.
  • Analyse model performance across asset fleets, diagnose issues such as low risk scores or false positives and recommend hyper‑parameter adjustments.
  • Collaborate with data and subject‑matter experts from C3 AI and customer teams to seek, understand, validate, interpret and correctly use new data elements.

Security Clearance

This role supports defence programmes that require UK Security Clearance. Candidates must hold or be able to obtain and maintain SC or NATO clearance. Eligibility requires a minimum of five years’ continuous UK residence.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics or equivalent fields.
  • Applied AI experience in generative AI, agentic solutions, regression and classification, supervised and unsupervised learning.
  • Strong mathematical background in linear algebra, calculus, probability and statistics.
  • Experience with scalable ML (MapReduce, streaming).
  • Ability to drive a project and work independently and in a team.
  • Strong communication skills and proactive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with JavaScript and prototyping languages such as Python and R. Experience with Java and Scala is a plus.
  • Portfolio of projects (GitHub, papers, etc.) is a plus.
