Volunteer Engagement Manager

Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 per annum, dependent on experience, plus travel expenses
Hours: 35 hours per week
My client is a well-established, growing charity retailer. They have an exciting opportunity for a Volunteer Engagement Manager to join their team in a newly created role.
The Volunteer Engagement Manager will be a key member of the Retail management team, working closely with shop management and HR. The role involves recruiting, organizing, and coordinating volunteers and the volunteer program, supporting shop managers in developing their skills to enhance recruitment, retention, and ensure adequate volunteer coverage in various locations.
Role Responsibilities
- Achieve recruitment targets for each shop to ensure sufficient volunteers and hours to meet financial goals.
- Support the onboarding process for volunteers across retail roles.
- Engage volunteers with the charity\’s work and communicate the value of their contributions.
- Maintain a motivated, well-trained, and engaged volunteer team with excellent communication at all levels.
- Participate in in-person recruitment events to connect with volunteering communities.
- Coordinate with the Retail HR lead to deliver online training sessions, ensuring volunteers are prepared and confident in their roles.
- Build strong relationships with volunteers and shop managers, demonstrating the impact of volunteering activities.
- Assist shop managers in maintaining accurate records of volunteer activities and hours, ensuring compliance with legal and organizational standards.
Desirable Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Successful track record in charity shop volunteer recruitment and retention.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with volunteers, staff, and stakeholders.
- Passion for volunteering and understanding of volunteer management challenges.
- Experience managing a regional volunteer network.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Experience with volunteer management software and recruitment platforms (desirable).
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Personable, with strong listening skills.
