The Role
We are seeking a highly organised and commercially minded Trading Operations Manager – Environmental Commodities to support and oversee the operational lifecycle of environmental commodity transactions. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in fast-moving markets and who is equally comfortable dealing with counterparties, analysing data, solving operational issues and improving internal processes. The successful candidate will work closely with traders, counterparties, suppliers, registries and clients to ensure the accurate and efficient execution, settlement and management of trades across environmental and renewable energy markets.

Key Responsibilities
Trading & Operational Management
- Manage the full operational lifecycle of environmental commodity trades from execution through to settlement
- Capture and validate trades accurately within internal systems
- Coordinate deliveries, transfers and settlements across registries and counterparties
- Monitor contract obligations, payment schedules and reconciliation processes
- Liaise with traders, brokers, suppliers, registries and clients regarding operational matters
- Support portfolio management and position monitoring activities
Environmental Commodities & Compliance
- Manage operational processes relating to: REGOs, RGGOs, Carbon credits and CO₂ products, CPPAs and CGPAs
- Ensure accurate sustainability documentation and audit trails are maintained
- Monitor regulatory and compliance requirements across environmental markets
- Assist with registry account management and certificate transfers
Reporting & Analysis
- Produce trading, exposure and position reports
- Assist with market analysis and operational data review
- Identify operational risks, discrepancies and process inefficiencies
- Support management reporting and commercial analysis
Systems & Process Improvement
- Help optimise and enhance C-Zero’s bespoke trade management system
- Identify opportunities for automation and operational scalability
- Improve internal controls, workflows and reporting processes
- Contribute to the development of operational best practices as the business grows
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously
- Commercial mindset with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with data
- Experience using trading systems, accounting software and/or data platforms
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- A willingness to take ownership and “muck in” where required within a growing team
Desirable Experience
- Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous: Environmental commodity markets, Energy trading, Renewable energy certificates (REGOs/RGGOs), Carbon markets or emissions trading, Commodity operations or middle office, Power, gas or environmental brokerage, Trade settlements and reconciliations, Risk management and compliance monitoring
Education
Good A-Levels required or Degree preferred in: Economics, Finance, Business, Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics or related disciplines.
