We are currently recruiting for a Joinery Production Operative to join the team at our Joiners Workshop at King Street, Leyland. At our Joinery Workshop, we specialise in the design and manufacture of over 2,500 bespoke staircases each year, alongside a wide range of custom joinery items made to our customers’ exact specifications. We take great pride that a number of staff have been with us their entire working career, as well as some staff also being 3rd generation of their family to work for the company. Our commitment to stock and the quality of our service is what makes C&W Berry a truly unique merchant. Of our 240+ staff, many have a trade background, ensuring we always offer professional advice and service. Staff regularly undergo training, keeping us up to date with the new products and innovations in the industry.
Duties Include:
- Operating a range of woodworking machines
- Measuring and cutting staircase timber components
- Jointing timber for staircase production
- Assembling timber handrail and spindle sets for staircases
- Maintaining general cleanliness of work area
- Working to deadlines
Required Skills & Experience:
- Able to carry out routine machine maintenance
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team
- Able to lift reasonably heavy loads
- Articulate and numerate
- Health and safety aware
Preferred Skills:
- Experience of working in a sawmill production or tool room
- Experience of working in a timber engineering or joiners workshop
- Background in a mechanical or engineering trade
- Fork truck licence
The ideal candidate for this semi-skilled position should come from a practical background; full training will be given.
