Cancer is still most often caught late, and late is what kills people. We built an AI platform that finds it earlier.
To date, C the Signs has identified 85,000 patients with cancer across more than 100 cancer types, at 99% sensitivity— patients who might otherwise have been diagnosed months later, or in an emergency department, or not in time. That number is not a projection or a pilot result. It is real patients, in real NHS practices, diagnosed earlier than they would have been.
We are now pushing on three fronts at once: decision support at the point of care, population-level case finding that surfaces at-risk patients nobody has thought to look at yet, and direct-to-patient assessment that opens a route into diagnosis without a clinician having to be the first step. Each one changes who gets found, and when. Together they change the shape of the problem.
This role
This is the role for a GP who has been frustrated by the ten-minute appointment and wants to work on the thing upstream of it.
You will sit at the intersection of clinical practice, AI, and NHS reality — as the clinical mind inside our product squads and as the person in the room with our customers. Half your week is building: challenging model outputs, pressure-testing pathway logic, deciding what a safe and useful AI recommendation actually looks like at 4pm on a Friday in a busy practice. The other half is out in the system: running discovery with ICBs and trusts, standing up in front of clinical leads and cancer boards, turning a whiteboard idea into something a customer wants to fund and run.
You are not a subject matter expert who gets consulted. You are the clinical voice that shapes what we build, and the person our customers trust when they decide to build it with us.
What you’ll do
Clinical Advisory & Validation
- Act as the embedded clinical expert for two product squads, providing on-demand guidance on NHS workflows, care pathways, and patient safety considerations
- Review and challenge product decisions from a clinical lens — identifying where assumptions diverge from how care is actually delivered across primary, secondary, and community settings
- Evaluate new feature proposals for clinical accuracy, feasibility, and risk
Discovery & Research
- Lead or support clinical discovery: interviews with clinicians, site visits, and workflow observation across NHS and independent sector settings
- Synthesise evidence based medicine, NHS England policy, and clinical evidence to inform product direction
- Identify unmet clinical needs — particularly around NHS operational pressures, workforce constraints, and care pathway inefficiencies — that represent product opportunities
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Bridge the gap between clinicians, PMs, engineers, and designers — translating clinical concepts into language the team can act on, and product concepts into language clinicians can evaluate
- Partner with regulatory teams as the Clinical Safety Lead, taking ownership of UK compliance requirements including DCB0129/DCB0160 clinical safety standards and MHRA regulations for Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) to ensure these are embedded into every product decision
- Support go-to-market and customer success teams with clinical content and NHS implementation guidance
Implementation & Adoption
- Advise on and project manage clinical implementation within NHS environments — from configuration decisions to change management for clinical staff navigating existing systems (e.g. EMIS, SystmOne, Epic)
- Contribute to clinical documentation, training materials, and onboarding resources suited to NHS workflows
- Gather feedback from clinical users post-launch and feed insights back into the product cycle
Requirements
- Post Completion of Core training (CCT) in General Practice with a minimum of 6 years of experience working as a doctor in the NHS
- Strong working knowledge of NHS structures, care settings, and the realities of frontline healthcare delivery in the UK
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment: you're comfortable with ambiguity and know how to make an impact without formal authority
- Experience leading clinical discovery with clients and partners from scoping and recruiting the right voices to synthesising insights and presenting findings to stakeholders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills: you can make clinical complexity accessible without losing nuance and can effectively communicate with both clinical and non-clinical stakeholders
- Experience with NHS system integrations and EHR workflows (EMIS, SystmOne)
- Prior experience in a digital health, healthtech, or clinical informatics role
- Familiarity with product development processes (discovery, sprint cycles, roadmapping)
