Based in the Ballymena area, my client is a leading sheet metal manufacturing company who are one of the market leaders in their field within the UK and Ireland. Due to growth, they are seeking to recruit a Design Engineer who has at least 2 years’ mechanical design experience and who is “hands on” with the shop / production floor.

On offer is a salary of £35,000 - £45,000, a 4 day week (Mon - Thurs), pension, sick pay and a discretionary bonus. My client is offering a secure, well paid and exciting job for the rest of your career with a focus on having a good work life balance.

Role – Design Engineer

  • Prototyping and development activities for new and existing product lines
  • Daily production support and liaising with customers and suppliers to assist with both daily production and development activities
  • Development of new and existing products from concept to market ready
  • Working closely with engineers and the wider manufacturing team in a hands-on environment
  • Support production by producing technical drawings, developing processes, ensuring designs meet industry standards and assisting in the manufacture of prototypes
  • Opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and experience of advanced CNC punching and press brake technology, contributing to the continuous improvement of their manufacturing capabilities

Person – Design Engineer

  • HNC / HND / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar qualification with at least 2 years’ experience working as a Design Engineer within a sheet metal fabrication / manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in the use of 3D Solid modelling software
