This is a pivotal management role with full responsibility for the strategic direction, commercial performance, and operational delivery of Versatile Healthcare. Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Head of Department – Healthcare will manage the growth of the department, strengthen relationships across the NHS, and ensure the successful delivery of complex, high-impact projects nationwide. The role requires a strong understanding of healthcare estates, clinical operational requirements, and the deployment of compliant healthcare environments - combined with sound commercial judgement and management capability. This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in addressing healthcare capacity challenges while building and managing a high‑performing specialist department.
Key Responsibilities
- To manage the overall performance, growth, and direction of the Healthcare Department
- Develop and implement plans to expand services within NHS and healthcare markets
- Recruit, manage, and mentor a multidisciplinary delivery team
- Establish effective processes, governance, and operational controls
- Report on performance, risks, and opportunities to the Senior Leadership Team
- Drive revenue growth and market presence across the UK healthcare sector
- Develop and maintain relationships with NHS Trusts, Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), and healthcare providers
- Identify emerging needs in healthcare estate capacity and infrastructure
- Oversee major bids, tenders, and framework opportunities
- Maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities and client partnerships
- Oversee the planning and execution of all healthcare infrastructure projects
- Ensure delivery to agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards
- Maintain compliance with NHS requirements, clinical standards, and regulatory frameworks
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams covering project management, logistics, installation, and technical delivery
- Ensure robust risk management, safety practices, and operational resilience
- Provide specialist knowledge in temporary healthcare infrastructure and mobile clinical environments
- Maintain awareness of policy developments, procurement routes, and estate challenges across the NHS
- Represent the organisation with clients, partners, and stakeholders as required
- Support the development of practical and innovative deployment solutions
Experience & Qualifications
- Significant management experience in healthcare infrastructure, estates, or facilities delivery
- Strong understanding of NHS structures, procurement processes, and operational requirements
- Experience delivering complex capital or infrastructure projects within healthcare environments
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams and large‑scale programmes
- Demonstrated commercial awareness, including involvement in bids and contract delivery
- Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and operational levels
Highly Desirable
- Experience delivering temporary, modular, or mobile healthcare facilities
- Knowledge of HTM / HBN standards and clinical compliance requirements
- Experience supporting service continuity during refurbishment or capacity pressures
- Existing network of relationships within NHS estates or capital teams
