The Opportunity

As a Trainee Estimator, you'll receive training and hands-on exposure to the full tendering and pre-construction process. Working alongside an experienced team, you'll learn how to review drawings and specifications, obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors, prepare estimates and support the submission of competitive tenders. You don’t need to be an experienced Estimator. This role would suit someone with some previous exposure to construction, commercial or pre-construction environments who is keen to develop their career in Estimating.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of cost estimates and tender submissions
  • Review and interpret drawings, specifications and other technical information
  • Contact suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and quotations
  • Assist with analysing costs and preparing competitive tenders
  • Support the Pre-Construction team throughout the tender process
  • Develop your knowledge of estimating software, systems and processes
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure tender deadlines are met
  • Build relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and colleagues

What We’re Looking For

  • Some previous exposure to the construction industry, such as Quantity Surveying, Design, Estimating, Bid Coordination or a similar role
  • A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within Estimating and Pre-Construction
  • Confident working with numbers, costs and data
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Good communication skills and confidence speaking with suppliers and subcontractors
  • A willingness to learn, develop and take on increasing responsibility
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
