Personal Development Worker Required – Join Tom's Team in Govan

Are you caring, reliable, and passionate about supporting people to live a fulfilling and meaningful life? Tom, who lives in Govan, is looking for a new Personal Development Worker to join his established support team.

Tom is a friendly and joyful older gentleman who thrives on routine and enjoys living an active and creative lifestyle. He has a real passion for art and regularly attends art classes with Project Ability, where he enjoys developing his skills and expressing his creativity. At home, Tom loves colouring in and working on his own art projects, proudly displaying his artwork throughout his house.

Tom also enjoys getting out and about on day trips in his car, exploring new places, and meeting friends for a bite to eat. He values good company, consistency, and support from people who are enthusiastic about helping him enjoy the things that matter most to him.

As Tom's Personal Development Worker, you will:

• Support Tom with his daily routines and activities.
• Provide assistance with personal care where required.
• Accompany Tom to art classes, social activities, and community outings.
• Support him to maintain friendships and enjoy day trips.
• Encourage independence while promoting his wellbeing, dignity, and choice.
• Help Tom continue pursuing his creative interests and displaying his artwork with pride.

About Tom's Team

Tom has a well-established, experienced, and supportive team around him. The team operates with a self-managing approach, meaning staff are trusted to use their own initiative, judgement, and problem-solving skills to support Tom in a way that reflects his preferences and outcomes.

This role would suit someone who is confident working independently and is comfortable using their own autonomy while remaining accountable and working collaboratively with the wider team. Flexibility, good communication, and a person-centred approach are essential to being successful in this role.

What Tom is Looking For

• A friendly, patient, and dependable individual.
• Someone who enjoys supporting people to achieve their personal goals and interests.
• A person who understands the importance of routine and consistency.
• An individual with a positive attitude and a good sense of humour.
• Someone who can confidently work within a self-managing team structure and use their own initiative.
• A full driving licence is desirable but not essential, as supporting Tom to access his local community and enjoy day trips forms an important part of the role.
• Previous experience is welcome but not essential, as full training will be provided.
