Working hours 8am-5pm Monday to Friday with 1 hour paid lunch break.

Local Building and Refurbishment Company based in Rainham Essex requires a Labourer who must be able to drive to work with an existing team. We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Labourer / Driver to support our site teams and assist with the transportation of materials, tools, and equipment to and from various project locations. This is a hands-on role combining general site labouring duties with driving responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving Duties
    • Safely transport materials, tools, and equipment between sites and suppliers
    • Load and unload vehicles, ensuring items are secured properly
    • Carry out basic vehicle checks and report any defects
    • Keep company vehicle clean and well maintained
    • Collect and deliver materials from builders’ merchants and suppliers
  • Labouring Duties
    • Assist tradespeople on-site (carpenters, bricklayers, decorators, plumbers, etc.)
    • Prepare and maintain work areas
    • Moving materials and equipment around site
    • Basic demolition and site clearance
    • General cleaning and ensuring sites are tidy and safe
    • Following all health and safety regulations

Requirements

  • Full, clean UK driving licence (essential)
  • Previous experience in a construction or refurbishment environment (preferred)
  • CSCS card (preferred but not essential)
  • Have or be able to pass a DBS check
  • Good understanding of health and safety on site
  • Physically fit and able to carry out manual work
  • Reliable, punctual, and hard-working
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and use initiative

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience driving vans or light commercial vehicles
  • Basic knowledge of construction materials
  • First Aid at Work certificate
