Local Building and Refurbishment Company based in Rainham Essex requires a Labourer who must be able to drive to work with an existing team. We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Labourer / Driver to support our site teams and assist with the transportation of materials, tools, and equipment to and from various project locations. This is a hands-on role combining general site labouring duties with driving responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving Duties
- Safely transport materials, tools, and equipment between sites and suppliers
- Load and unload vehicles, ensuring items are secured properly
- Carry out basic vehicle checks and report any defects
- Keep company vehicle clean and well maintained
- Collect and deliver materials from builders’ merchants and suppliers
- Labouring Duties
- Assist tradespeople on-site (carpenters, bricklayers, decorators, plumbers, etc.)
- Prepare and maintain work areas
- Moving materials and equipment around site
- Basic demolition and site clearance
- General cleaning and ensuring sites are tidy and safe
- Following all health and safety regulations
Requirements
- Full, clean UK driving licence (essential)
- Previous experience in a construction or refurbishment environment (preferred)
- CSCS card (preferred but not essential)
- Have or be able to pass a DBS check
- Good understanding of health and safety on site
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual work
- Reliable, punctual, and hard-working
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and use initiative
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience driving vans or light commercial vehicles
- Basic knowledge of construction materials
- First Aid at Work certificate
