Construction & refurbishment company based in Rainham Essex, operating across London & surrounding areas. We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Groundworker – General Builder / Working Foreman to join our team and oversee day‑to‑day on‑site operations. The role requires strong construction knowledge, the ability to manage multiple trades, and deliver projects safely and to the highest quality standards.
Essential:
- Full UK driver’s licence, company vehicle provided.
- Permanent P.A.Y.E position.
- Working hours 8 am–5 pm Monday to Friday with a 1 hour break.
Responsibilities
- Day‑to‑day site organisation and resource management.
- Client liaison – ensuring high quality delivery and exceptional service.
- Construction guidance and on‑site support when required.
- Daily reporting to contract managers and surveyors.
- Material & sub‑contractor coordination with office.
- Attend weekly progress meetings and toolbox talks.
- Maintain health & safety standards, carrying out inductions.
- Monitor on‑site materials and record labour outputs against timesheets.
- Ensure sub‑contracted labour meets required standards.
- No remote working.
- Manage construction site, ensuring workers adhere to construction plans and safety targets.
Skills and Qualifications
- Trade qualification or served apprenticeship.
- At least 5 years supervisory experience.
- Construction knowledge and background.
- SMSTS or SSSTS – essential.
- First Aid Certification – essential.
- Asbestos Awareness Certificate – essential.
- Full UK Driver’s Licence – essential.
- DBS Check – essential.
- Good general health and safety knowledge.
- Read drawings, set out new work and know all building trades.
- CSCS card – good to have.
