We are a construction and refurbishment company based in Rainham Essex. We are looking for an experienced groundworker – General Builder / Working Foreman to join our team and oversee day‑to‑day on‑site operations. We work in London and the surrounding areas delivering projects covering all aspects of construction and refurbishment.
As a working foreman you will be responsible for overseeing projects, organising resources to ensure all works meet the required quality, programme and safety standards, and being hands‑on with the projects. You will need to have a very good knowledge of the construction industry and refurbishment projects as you will be overseeing all trades. The role will require you to build relationships with clients and contractors, whilst ensuring projects are run safely, efficiently and productively to the highest of standards. When needed you will be required to offer solutions to on‑site issues and liaise with the contracts managers and surveyors to provide operational support.
A company vehicle will be provided and a full UK driver’s licence is essential for this P.A.Y.E position. We are looking for a dedicated, positive and enthusiastic candidate who wants to work as part of a team and has the motivation to help the continual growth of the company. This is a permanent P.A.Y.E. position joining our existing team. Working hours 8 am‑5 pm Monday to Friday with 1 hour break.
Responsibilities- Day‑to‑day site organisation
- Dealing with clients and ensuring a high level of quality and service is delivered
- Providing construction knowledge and guidance when required
- Reporting daily back to contracts managers and surveyors
- Organising materials and liaising with the office
- Attending weekly progress meetings and safety meetings
- Maintaining health and safety standards on sites and carrying out inductions
- Organising and liaising with office to organise sub‑contractors
- Monitoring on‑site materials
- Checking and recording labour outputs against time sheets
- Ensuring sub‑contracted labour meets required standards
- Carrying out and recording weekly toolbox talks to labour and sub‑contractors
- No remote working
- Managing construction site, ensuring that all workers adhere to construction plans and safety targets
- Trade qualification or completed apprenticeship
- At least 5 years of supervisory experience
- Construction knowledge and background
- SMSTS or SSSTS (essential)
- First Aid Certification (essential)
- Asbestos Awareness Certificate (essential)
- Full UK Driver’s Licence (essential)
- Must be able to pass a DBS check (essential)
- Good general health and safety knowledge
- Ability to read drawings, set out new work and have good knowledge of all building trades
- CSCS card
- 20 days paid holiday plus all public and bank holidays paid
