Job Description We’re looking for an experienced React Native App Developer with a passion for snappy UX and robust code to join our team, building the world\’s first tech platform for flight-free holidays. As our first mobile developer hire, you’ll play a pivotal role in creating our offline-first journey guide app for our customers to use around the UK and Europe. We’re a small, fast-moving and fast-growing company, so there’s huge potential for growth in this role and beyond. Your contribution will make a difference to our colleagues and customers daily: your impact will be direct and visible. You can strike a healthy balance between being detail-conscious and deadline-oriented, supporting technical decision-making to keep progress on track. You’re comfortable managing multiple tasks, staying calm under pressure, and ensuring every user interaction is handled with care. You\’ll report directly to our front end team lead Nathalie Christmann-Cooper, work closely with the rest of the tech team, our CTO Rich Levy and across the business. This role is a remote first, hybrid role with 2 days per month in the office in London. You must have the legal right to work in the UK/EU and be able to get to the office flight-free for the 2 days. Responsibilities Build and develop our React Native app: optimise for performance and poor network connectivity, ensuring a smooth and accessible experience for all users. Guide our app through the app store submission process: take ownership to release and beyond, delivering regular updates to our app in both Apple and Google stores. Participate in the product development process: help scope stories and projects, test features prior to release, measure success and iterate based on user feedback. Develop user-centric features: implement user interfaces and features, focusing on usability, performance, and scalability. Enhance the user experience: work in cross-functional teams to create and enhance dynamic, journey-based features. Maintain technical excellence: maintain best practices for front-end development to deliver mobile first web experiences in our web application, including code quality, testing, tech debt and deployment processes, API/library selection and system documentation. Collaborate with stakeholders: work closely with stakeholders across the company to align app development with business objectives and user needs and support and educate non-technical team members. What We Offer £75,000 – £85,000 p.a. depending on experience. Company ownership through equity. High spec laptop, tools, second screen, accessories. Remote-first, flexible working. 80 hours whenever: flexi-working across two week periods. 20 days wherever: work when you like and where you like for most of the month. 2 days together: join us in London two days each month including our monthly social. A funded day a week in a co-working space. What We’re Looking For Significant and demonstrable experience in building scalable and performant web and React Native mobile applications serving multiple geographical regions. Experience in building one or more apps that have been released onto the Apple and Google app stores. Knowledge of app security practices and CI/CD for mobile apps. Solid knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends and emerging technologies. Extensive experience with JavaScript frameworks, particularly React.js and Next.js, and a deep understanding of HTML, CSS. Experience calling JSON/REST APIs and working with authentication/authorisation systems. Great front end skills including mobile-first development with an ability to convert designed visuals into high performance, responsive components. Strong understanding of Typescript, modern development workflows, including version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines. Excellent problem-solving skills with great attention to detail and a methodical approach. Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A passion for sustainable travel and a strong alignment with our mission. What Would Be Great (but Isn’t Required) Experience with travel and hospitality systems.
