The Waste Operative plays a crucial role in maintaining environmental standards and operational efficiency by managing the collection, segregation, and disposal of various waste streams at designated facilities. This position demands high levels of responsibility, adherence to safety protocols, and a commitment to environmental conservation.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute scheduled waste collection and clearance of general waste, mixed recycling, food waste, glass, and bulky items in accordance with established schedules.
- Accurately weigh all waste streams, ensuring data is recorded and reported correctly, as accurate data is essential for performance tracking and compliance.
- Safely operate waste compaction equipment and ensure all operations comply with health and safety standards.
- Properly segregate and dispose of waste according to facility policies and legal requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe loading bay and waste storage area, ensuring all equipment is regularly cleaned and free from obstruction.
- Report any safety concerns or incidents related to waste management to prevent hazards.
- Address ad-hoc waste collection requests efficiently to maintain high service levels.
