The Waste Operative plays a crucial role in maintaining environmental standards and operational efficiency by managing the collection, segregation, and disposal of various waste streams at designated facilities. Key Responsibilities
- Execute scheduled waste collection and clearance of general waste, mixed recycling, food waste, glass, and bulky items in accordance with established schedules.
- Accurately weigh all waste streams, ensuring data is recorded and reported correctly, as accurate data is essential for performance tracking and compliance.
- Safely operate waste compaction equipment and ensure all operations comply with health and safety standards.
- Properly segregate and dispose of waste according to facility policies and legal requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe loading bay and waste storage area, ensuring all equipment is regularly cleaned and free from obstruction.
- Report any safety concerns or incidents related to waste management to prevent hazards.
- Address ad-hoc waste collection requests efficiently to maintain high service levels.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and promote a positive team culture to enhance overall service delivery and site performance.
