We are currently looking for an Operations Manager to join our bustling and purpose-driven team in Leyton, Greater London. Hours of Work: Mon - Fri (40hrs)
Operations Manager duties include:
- Overseeing all operational activities at our Gateway Road site, ensuring safety and compliance standards are met.
- Managing budgets, leading and developing staff, and building strong relationships with regulators and clients.
- Optimising site operations, implementing improvements, and maintaining high standards in health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Key Success Criteria:
The key success criterion is the safe long-term operation of Gateway Rd Yard. The key to achieving this will be the careful and effective management of resources and manpower, on a day-to-day and hour-by-hour basis, as the impact of demand and current availability requires. To achieve this you must have good management skills backed by a strong focus on attention to detail. A positive analytical approach and a “can-do” attitude must prevail at all times to successfully execute this role.
Main Tasks And Accountabilities:
- Manage site operations in accordance with Environment Agency license and H & S requirements.
- Have full budgetary responsibility for site.
- Lead and direct Site personnel.
- Effective co-ordination and monitoring of all waste movements in a compliant and effective manner.
- Liaison with customers and third parties as necessary.
- Regular liaison with the Environment Agency and other regulatory bodies.
- Appoint and develop staff.
- Oversee visitors and contractors on site.
- Prioritise and schedule work of the Yard and Weighbridge.
- Monitor statutory calibrations.
- Maximise utilisation.
- Plan and implement improvements.
- Compile procedures and Risk Assessments.
- Monitor use of consumables and spares.
- Oversee housekeeping on site and ensure a high standard is maintained.
- Report and monitor all accidents, incidents and environmental incidents on site in line with Company procedures.
- Ensure sufficient relevant equipment of any kind is available when required and appropriate stocks are kept and replenished as indicated from operational plans.
- Input wages.
- Produce/collate as required performance indicators.
- Produce a comprehensive monthly report in accordance with line management requests.
Personal Competencies:
- Formal qualification in Waste Treatment/Transfer Station COTC (Desirable).
- Intellectual curiosity: strong desire to learn the business; highly motivated and takes initiative to develop self professionally; seeks and recognises the value of constructive feedback.
- Demeanour: consistency maintains calm demeanour in a fast paced, high-pressure environment, able to maintain control with confidence and ease while remaining flexible.
