As a member of the skybook Development Team, the QA Software Tester will report to the Development Manager and work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure that our flight data management software is rigorously tested before release, following all standard testing processes. The successful applicant will be a Software Tester and will be ISTQB certified or have equivalent hands-on experience.

Location

Headquartered in the North Lincolnshire village of Kirmington, we also have offices in Hull, East Yorkshire and fully support a hybrid working schedule.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • You’ll be working within our QA Team and will be involved in testing the quality of our flagship aviation software.
  • Creating and executing precise test scripts to validate new development features before release.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing on our flagship iOS app to ensure a smooth user experience.
  • Validate internal and external APIs using tools like Postman.
  • Collaborate with the QA team to manage JIRA, develop test plans, and assist in regression testing and automation efforts.
  • Work closely with the Development team to enhance system features and processes.
  • Verify data integrity by examining data source providers and interfacing with Oracle database repositories.
  • Utilise AWS to test data processing from external sources.
  • Test data integrations with third-party iOS applications.
  • Document and communicate test results to both QA and development team.

Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • ISTQB certified or equivalent hands-on experience, with at least 2 years commercial experience as a manual QA Tester.
  • Strong exploratory testing skills thinking beyond scripted test cases and applying modern testing practices.
  • Proven experience writing clear test cases and maintaining regression test suites, with a focus on risk and coverage.
  • Experience testing data-heavy and/or integrated systems, understanding how changes impact end-to-end behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote, feedback-driven team.
  • Exposure to test automation is desirable, with an interest in contributing to or expanding automated test coverage alongside manual testing.
