Our Client is a leading digital agency known for crafting innovative, high-profile web experiences. They are currently seeking a Technical Lead to join their growing team. This fully remote role offers flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to work on creative, technically ambitious projects for top-tier clients.

Role overview:

We are supporting our client to find a Senior WordPress Developer to assist with high-priority short-term projects. This is a fast-paced environment requiring a developer who can work reactively, communicate clearly, and proactively manage client-facing updates.

Responsibilities:

  • Rapidly contribute to time-sensitive WordPress projects using modern development workflows.
  • Maintain and enhance existing WordPress sites using custom themes and plugins.
  • Work with a component-based architecture using the Sage Starter Theme by Roots
  • Use Blade templating for server-side rendering.

  • Manage custom forms (basic functionality, no complex integrations).
  • Support API integration workflows between Athlon and private customer APIs.
  • Proactively comment and update project tickets with summaries and progress to reduce communication pressure on internal team members.

  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and adapt quickly to shifting project priorities.

Essential Experience:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with WordPress development
  • Strong PHP 7/8 skills
  • Experience with Sage by Roots, or equivalent Laravel/Blade templating experience
  • Familiarity with modern frontend workflows (Webpack, component-driven architecture)
  • Experience creating and consuming APIs
  • Proven experience with custom theme development and plugin building
  • Familiarity with Git (via CLI) and Linux command line
  • Comfortable working with ACF Blocks and the Gutenberg editor
  • Clear and proactive communication, especially in client-facing ticketing systems

Desirable Experience:

  • Laravel experience (particularly Blade templating)
  • Experience working with multiple environments (Staging, Live)
