Responsibilities

About team: PICO, ByteDance's XR brand founded in 2012, focuses on building immersive XR experiences across gaming and non‑gaming applications, including productivity, video, collaboration, and AI‑driven tools.

Role Overview: As a Business Development Manager, you will own a defined segment of the non‑gaming ecosystem and drive partnerships from sourcing through launch. You will collaborate closely with other BD teammates across productivity, creativity, collaboration, and AI categories to ensure coordinated partner engagement and execution. This role will work closely with internal cross‑functional teams including Product, Engineering, Marketing, Store, and Legal to ensure partnerships are structured effectively and delivered on schedule. You will help translate partner requirements into actionable internal plans, align on technical integration paths, and support successful launches and ongoing optimisation. You will own a defined portfolio of partnerships while working in close alignment with the broader non‑gaming team and platform priorities. This role requires strong execution, sound deal judgment, and effective cross‑functional coordination to bring partners successfully onto the PICO platform.

Partner Development & Portfolio Management: Own a defined portfolio of entertainment partners across streaming video, sports rights holders, broadcasters, music platforms, and digital content providers; source and evaluate new partnership opportunities aligned with PICO platform priorities and the entertainment strategy for the European market; serve as the primary relationship owner for your partner portfolio, acting as a trusted and knowledgeable point of contact throughout the partnership lifecycle; identify and secure co‑development, co‑marketing, and co‑investment opportunities with strategic entertainment partners.

Deal Structuring & Commercial Negotiation: Lead commercial negotiations and structure deals within approved strategic frameworks, including content licensing, revenue share, minimum guarantees, and platform exclusivity arrangements; collaborate with Legal, Finance, and senior leadership to ensure deals are commercially sound, contractually compliant, and aligned with platform priorities; maintain structured pipeline tracking and reporting, providing regular updates to key stakeholders on deal status, milestones, and business impact.

Developer Ecosystem & Launch Execution: Support entertainment partners in navigating the XR developer ecosystem – helping them understand platform capabilities, SDK requirements, and integration pathways; drive partner execution from initial discussion through integration, launch, and post‑launch scaling, coordinating with Product, OS, SDK, Marketing, and Store teams; translate partner requirements into actionable internal feedback, advocating for platform improvements that serve the entertainment vertical; ensure milestone accountability, contractual compliance, and timely delivery of assets and builds.

Market Intelligence & Ecosystem Growth: Research and report on emerging entertainment apps, content trends, and market developments across Europe with relevance to the PICO audience; monitor and analyse KPIs for entertainment partnerships, providing performance reports and strategic recommendations to stakeholders; represent PICO at international conferences, industry events, and trade shows across Europe, with some travel to the U.S. to collaborate with the global team; build and maintain a strong network across the European media, sports, and music industries to support ongoing lead generation and market positioning.

Internal Collaboration: Manage term sheets and long‑form agreements in close collaboration with Legal, ensuring commercial terms are accurately captured and executed in a timely manner; cultivate and maintain strong relationships across ByteDance BD stakeholders who share similar vertical oversight, fostering alignment and avoiding duplication across the global team; effectively communicate market insights and salient partner updates to the PICO leadership team and global cross‑functional stakeholders, translating on‑ground intelligence into strategic context; evangelise and champion PICO’s broad portfolio of developer solutions in collaboration with the technical support team, and synthesise partner feedback to OS and technical support teams to drive continuous platform improvement.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in Business Development, Strategic Partnerships, Digital Distribution, Content Acquisition, or related roles within the technology or media industry. Demonstrated experience negotiating and executing complex commercial partnerships with media companies, content platforms, sports organisations, or digital entertainment brands. Solid understanding of the European media, sports, and music landscape, including key players, rights structures, and distribution dynamics. Proven ability to drive partnerships from sourcing through launch, with strong cross‑functional collaboration skills across Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Legal. Structured thinker with the ability to prioritise effectively under ambiguity and manage multiple partner relationships simultaneously. Strong communication skills across all levels – from executive‑facing presentations to day‑to‑day operational coordination. A genuine passion for emerging technology and excitement about the future of immersive entertainment in XR.

Preferred Qualifications: Background in product partnerships, digital distribution, or content acquisition, ideally with experience managing the launch and lifecycle of streaming, sports, or music applications. Experience working with major European broadcasters, sports rights holders (leagues, federations, clubs), or music streaming platforms. Understanding of XR/AR/VR platforms and hardware–software ecosystem dynamics, with familiarity with platform SDK and publishing requirements. Startup or scale‑up experience, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑moving and resource‑constrained environment. Experience collaborating with first‑party platforms and an understanding of regional market trends for XR adoption across APAC, EU, and North America.
