Academic Relations Manager – Management Research Institute
Overview
The Academic Strategy and Cooperation team, part of the Management Research Institute, serves as ByteDance\’s strategic interface with the global academic community. Our mission is to accelerate technological innovation by identifying and fostering collaborations with leading researchers and institutions, focusing on AI and other cutting-edge fields. We provide critical insights and analysis that shape ByteDance\’s long-term technology strategy.
Responsibilities
- Network Development: Cultivate and manage a network of key opinion leaders, experts, and scholars at premier universities and research institutions in Europe and North America, with a primary focus on Artificial Intelligence and related domains.
- Technology Intelligence & Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analysis on emerging technologies, university research breakthroughs, talent landscapes, and industry trends to generate reports.
- Partnership & Collaboration: Identify, evaluate, and execute strategic collaboration opportunities with academic partners, including joint research projects, joint research labs, and other forms of research cooperation.
- Influence & Engagement: Establish and grow ByteDance\’s presence and influence within the academic community by building information-sharing platforms and facilitating high-impact engagement activities.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications: Bachelor\’s degree or higher in a STEM discipline such as Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field; a self-motivated individual with high intellectual curiosity, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong desire to learn and grow in emerging fields; professional proficiency in both written and spoken English.
- Preferred qualifications: 3-5 years of relevant experience in university relations, corporate strategy, management consulting, venture capital, or tech entrepreneurship; a proven track record of managing academic-industrial collaborations, such as research projects, academic conferences, joint labs, scholarship programs, or academic competitions.
