Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Field Service Technician to join our UK team. Based in the UK, you will support customer installations across Europe, working with the latest laser cutting, bending, automation, and manufacturing technologies. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled engineer who enjoys working internationally, solving complex challenges, and supporting customers to maximise the performance of their Bystronic equipment. All installation projects are planned and coordinated by our European Installation Team based in Poland, ensuring you have clear schedules, support, and collaboration across the region.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Installation & Commissioning
- Install, commission, and hand over Bystronic machines and solutions at customer sites, ensuring equipment is ready for production in line with Bystronic standards
- Complete installation activities across laser cutting, bending, automation, and related solutions
- Perform machine updates, modifications, and retrofits
- Support customer ramp-up and production start-up activities
- Support installations at trade fairs and exhibitions where required
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and systems
- Perform CNC/PLC updates, downgrades, configuration, and testing
- Set up CNC/PLC systems and operating applications, including bending applications and robot programs
- Carry out maintenance activities and technical improvements
- Support complex troubleshooting, modifications, and customer requirements
- Customer Support
- Train customers on machine operation, safety, maintenance, and best practices
- Provide technical advice and support to customers during installation and production ramp-up
- Support customers with technical challenges and quality-related issues
- Build strong relationships with customers, acting as a trusted technical partner
- Internal Collaboration
- Complete service reports, installation documentation, customer feedback, and support requests through CRM systems
- Follow and support quality improvements in line with ISO standards
- Request spare parts and support efficient delivery to customer sites
- Support sales and service teams with technical expertise
- Share knowledge and mentor colleagues where appropriate
Your education & experience:
- Technical qualification, apprenticeship, college, or bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical engineering, automation, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in maintenance, installation, commissioning, or field service engineering
- Experience working with complex industrial machinery, automation, CNC, or PLC-controlled systems
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering, or capital equipment environments
