BYRON BURGERS is a British restaurant brand focused on delivering great food, exceptional hospitality and memorable guest experiences across our restaurant estate. We're looking for a Maintenance Manager to take ownership of our maintenance operations, ensuring our restaurants remain safe, compliant and operating at their best.
The Role
As Maintenance Manager, you'll oversee maintenance delivery across the Byron restaurant estate, ensuring our sites remain safe, compliant, reliable and well maintained. This is a key role for someone with strong technical maintenance expertise, commercial awareness and the ability to balance preventative planning with hands-on problem solving. You'll be responsible for improving asset reliability, reducing operational disruption and ensuring our restaurants continue to operate to the highest standards.
Working closely with restaurant teams, contractors and suppliers, you'll develop and deliver effective maintenance programmes that support operational performance, control costs and protect the long-term value of our estate. You'll be equally comfortable implementing preventative maintenance strategies and responding to urgent operational issues that require practical solutions.
What You'll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading maintenance operations across the Byron restaurant estate.
- Developing and implementing preventative maintenance programmes across all locations.
- Managing reactive maintenance activity to minimise disruption to restaurant operations.
- Identifying recurring issues through root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.
- Establishing consistent maintenance standards across all sites.
- Driving high standards of health, safety, compliance and engineering best practice.
- Ensuring all statutory inspections, certifications and compliance requirements are completed and maintained.
- Conducting regular site audits to ensure maintenance standards are consistently achieved.
- Supporting safe systems of work and contractor compliance.
- Managing external contractors and service providers to ensure quality, value and accountability.
- Monitoring contractor performance and service levels.
- Reviewing maintenance spend and identifying opportunities for improved efficiency.
- Building strong supplier relationships to support business requirements.
- Reviewing asset performance and lifecycle requirements.
- Supporting refurbishment projects, restaurant openings and capital investment works.
- Providing maintenance insight to support future planning and investment decisions.
- Improving asset reliability and reducing unnecessary reactive expenditure.
- Developing maintenance reporting and KPI dashboards covering performance, compliance and expenditure.
- Working closely with Operations, Finance, Property and Restaurant teams.
- Providing regular updates and recommendations to the Byron Leadership Team.
- Promoting a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
About You
You'll ideally bring:
- Significant maintenance or facilities management experience within hospitality, retail, leisure or multi-site operations.
- Experience managing planned and reactive maintenance programmes across multiple locations.
- Strong knowledge of building services, mechanical and electrical systems and statutory compliance requirements.
- Understanding of health and safety legislation, contractor management and safe systems of work.
- Experience managing service contracts, suppliers and maintenance budgets.
- Proven ability to reduce reactive maintenance through effective preventative planning.
- Strong project management experience, including refurbishments and capital works.
- Experience selecting and implementing a CAFM or CMMS system from scratch.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Practical, organised and solutions-focused approach.
- Willingness to travel nationally across Byron locations.
