An opportunity has arisen for a Part Time (18 hours per week), Medical Receptionist to join our team. This post is fixed term maternity leave cover until the end of November 2026. The post holder will provide a comprehensive reception/admin service to our Practice population. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a GP surgery but training will be provided to the right candidate. The post is for 18 hours per week to be worked over 2 days, 8am to 6pm. The post-holder will be required to cover extended hours on a Monday evening until 8pm on a rota basis.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake Reception and Telephone duties, acting as the first point of contact for patients and visitors
  • Process Repeat Prescriptions requests
  • Various administration duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice
  • Use SystmOne clinical system

About us

We are a friendly, well-organised 3 Partner Teaching Practice serving around 8,500 patients. We are also part of 5 practices that make up the North Easington Primary Care Network which has an excellent track record for collaboration, care and support.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will work as part of a team of medical receptionists to provide a comprehensive reception/administration service to the Practice population. Main duties include acting as the first point of contact for patients and visitors ensuring everyone is directed to the most appropriate person.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Experience of working in a public facing role
  • Previous experience of working in a GP surgery
  • Experience in SystmOne

Qualifications

  • Good standard of general education including Maths and English
  • NVQ in Administration / Customer Care
