GTS Events Ltd (trading as “Ryder Cup Travel Services”) are seeking a motivated and organised individual to support the growth of our sales function and the day-to-day management of a key project linked to a major global sporting event. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in sales within the sports events sector and will assist with the operational team during the event itself.
The Sales Executive will be involved in the full sales journey, including prospecting, outbound outreach, and responding to inbound enquiries. They will support customers through the booking process, maintaining accurate CRM records, handling sales administration tasks and supporting the marketing function through activities such as mystery shopping, website updates and partner material checks. This is a fixed term contract until November 2027, with the possibility to extend.
Key responsibilities:- Manage inbound enquiries and sales opportunities, converting leads into confirmed bookings.
- Identify opportunities to upsell and maximise revenue across existing client relationships and new enquiries.
- Proactively source and qualify new leads via outbound calls, LinkedIn, email campaigns, networking events and follow-ups.
- Support offline sales activities such as events, call campaigns and partnerships.
- Support targeted outreach and follow-ups to maintain a strong sales pipeline.
- Contribute to overall sales targets through proactive client engagement and opportunity management, utilising a CRM system.
- Serve as the main point of contact for customer sales enquiries and post-sales support.
- Build strong B2C relationships across hospitality, travel and accommodation packages.
- Resolve customer issues efficiently, ensuring high satisfaction throughout the journey.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of accommodation options, hospitality packages, event schedules and upgrade opportunities.
- Deliver tailored pitches and product recommendations aligned to client needs and budgets.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, including follow ups, opportunity stages and contract details.
- Prepare quotations, proposals, booking confirmations and supporting documentation.
- Assist with reporting and data management, including pipeline tracking and updates.
- Review partner facing marketing materials to ensure accuracy, quality and brand alignment.
- Conduct mystery shopping to assess customer service and provide actionable feedback.
- Maintain website listings, including uploading and managing user submitted content and photos.
- Identify and help resolve operational gaps across sales, operations and marketing teams.
- Provide ad hoc support to ensure smooth day-to-day business operations.
- Willingness to travel to provide onsite support to the delivery team during event time.
- Confident communicator with strong phone, email and written communication skills.
- Target-driven, commercially minded and motivated to develop in a sales role.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Customer-focused with good problem-solving capability and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM (or willingness to learn quickly).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for basic reporting and data management.
- Experience using booking management software (desirable but not essential).
- Previous experience in sales, customer service, event operations or hospitality.
- Interest in golf or wider sports events is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with LinkedIn for lead generation.
- Experience working with partners, agencies or third-party stakeholders.
