Scientific Lead
Reporting to: Director of Innovation

We fuse dermatological research with emerging technology to develop accessible, high-performance products—driving category-defining innovation with foresight into future consumer demands to ensure the brand remains future-proof.
The Role
Reporting to our Director of Innovation, our Scientific Lead will strengthen our commitment to science-based innovation and embed scientific rigour across every stage of product development. A key focus will be on translating complex scientific research into actionable insights, supporting the wider team with ingredient expertise, and leading clinical and research initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep scientific knowledge and a collaborative mindset, with experience in skincare or adjacent industries and a passion for bridging science with our real-world consumer needs.
Scientific Strategy & Leadership
- Partner with the Director of Innovation and Scientific Advisor to embed scientific integrity into the end-to-end product development process.
- Act as the internal scientific lead across all skincare projects, advising on formulation strategy, ingredient efficacy, and clinical relevance.
- Collaborate with external contract manufacturers and formulation experts to guide scientific decision-making and ensure alignment with brand goals.
- Support the Product Development team by translating complex scientific concepts into clear, actionable insights across projects.
- Represent the scientific voice in internal reviews, cross-functional meetings, and innovation planning sessions.
- Lead knowledge sharing initiatives across the business to build confidence and understanding of key scientific concepts within non-technical teams.
Clinical & Research Oversight
- Manage relationships with external science advisors, dermatologists, research institutions, and clinical testing labs.
- Design and oversee clinical and user testing plans, ensuring they are robust, ethical, and aligned with product claims.
- Interpret study results and ensure clear communication of outcomes to both internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Evaluate and maintain scientific evidence for marketing and regulatory claim support, ensuring consistency with brand positioning and industry standards.
- Keep up to date with advancements in dermatological research, cosmetic science, and bioactive technologies to inform and inspire pipeline development.
Ingredient & Innovation Expertise
- Be the in-house expert on raw materials, ingredient mechanisms, and skincare technologies.
- Develop a strategic point of view on ingredient innovation, identifying opportunities for new product development or formula optimisation.
- Attend global formulation summits, scientific conferences, and supplier meetings to stay ahead of trends and emerging technologies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with ingredient houses and technical partners.
- Provide scientific input during raw material selection, supplier evaluation, and formulation troubleshooting.
What we\’re looking for:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a scientific or technical role within the beauty, skincare, cosmetics, or related health/wellness industries.
- Strong background in cosmetic science, dermatology, formulation chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Proven experience working with clinical trials, efficacy studies, or consumer testing in a commercial setting.
- Confident in translating complex scientific and technical information into clear, engaging insights for cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with product development, regulatory, marketing, and external scientific partners.
- Passionate about skincare innovation, with a strong understanding of ingredient science, formulation technologies, and dermatological trends.
- Proactive and commercially aware, with the ability to balance scientific integrity with business goals.
- Strong network and/or experience working with contract manufacturers, raw material suppliers, and academic institutions.
- Willingness to travel globally to attend scientific conferences, visit suppliers, and represent the brand externally.
