Organisation Information: Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O’Rourke, two of Europe’s most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £4 billion. Bylor are pushing the boundaries of innovation and modern technology while delivering high quality construction on a massive scale. Bylor have already broken the UK record for the largest continuous concrete pour of 9,000m3 of concrete. Purpose of the role: Surveyors support the engineering team through all phases of the construction project, supplying site plans, implementing new technology and precision instrumentation, and setting out structural features. The survey role also involves implementing Quality Assurance processes and supplying project deliverables and QA reports to the client.
Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:
- Undertaking land/topographic and engineering surveys, using a variety of specialist equipment and technology, such as robotics and 3D scanners
- Setting out
- Analysing data using plans, maps, charts and software such as AutoCAD, Civils3D, Leica Survey Software
- Preparing survey drawings
- Presenting data to clients and writing reports
- Advising about technical matters
- Working both on site and in an office as required
Essential skills & knowledge:
- Technical Skills:
- 10 years + in a similar role
- Specialist land surveying skills
- Experience of large Infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of and experience in reinforced concrete is a must
- Must have experience in the use of an EDM/Total Station
- Interpersonal Skills:
- Numeracy and the ability to make mathematical calculations

Additional Information: All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O’Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance. Unless stated otherwise, all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
