All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O’Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.
Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O’Rourke, two of Europe’s most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £2.8 billion.
Project Coordinator (Civil engineering) positions are now available with Bylor at HPC. We are expanding our capabilities by forming a new team to operate in a new scope of works, and we are seeking Project Managers to support the delivery of one of Europe’s largest and most complex civil engineering and nuclear projects. This represents a unique and exciting new scope for Bylor, independent from our main site activities, offering you the chance to play a key role in the success of this landmark project.
The Project Coordinator will be an integral part of the new RSN (Room Survey Network) team, responsible for the setting-out, installation, surveying, and delivery of reports for the permanent survey network plates to be installed in over 5,000 rooms across the site.
Key duties include:
- Overseeing management and production activities within their designated areas.
- Coordinating accessibility with area and platform managers.
- Ensuring effective resource allocation.
- Reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager.
- Facilitating communication and access within their area of influence to support the overall success of the RSN programme.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Report to Senior Project Manager.
- Overseeing management and production activities within their allocated areas.
- Coordinate with Handover Champions and platform responsible to ensure site accessibility and obtain necessary permits, in line with platform and project priorities.
- Support the Sr Project Manager in programme development/ adjustment.
- Weekly planning / daily priorities setup for RSN team.
- Responsible for tracking progress / productivity / output / Reporting (as support to the Sr Project Manager).
- Interface with stakeholders (communications / priorities / areas to work / accessibility / permits / requirements).
- Plates procurement.
- Support in gathering design.
- Provide operational guidance and support to Principal and Project Surveyors responsible for Surveying and setting-out teams.
- Technical support / methodologies / Procedures / Work permits / Health & Safety.
- FCRs/ NCRs/ EWN management.
- Quality assurance.
- Working both on site and in an office as required.
Essential skills & Technical knowledge:
- 2+ years in a similar role (as a Project coordinator, package manager – Project, Senior Project Engineer).
- Civil Engineering background / experience in building projects/ CDM regulations.
- Experience working on large Infrastructure projects.
- Team management.
- Project / Operations management.
- Planning / programme development experience.
- Lateral and logical thinking.
- Client interface and customer service skills.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organisation, time management and leadership skills.
- Surveying Engineering experience in Civil Projects will be very valued (not essential).
Education & Qualifications:
- Degree in Civil Engineering (Desirable but not essential).
- ICE/RICS membership and/or other Project Management institutions (Desirable but not essential).
- Technical Qualifications required (NVQ/HNC etc.).
Location: Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset. Somerset boasts beautiful English countryside, an attractive coastline, interesting towns and villages along with easy access to the M5 and within proximity to the cities of Bristol and Exeter.
