Associate - Energy & Infrastructure

The Role

The team advises on some of the largest and most sophisticated energy and infrastructure transactions globally, acting for governments, sponsors, financial institutions, contractors and suppliers across the full lifecycle of major projects.

The practice combines project development and commercial contracting expertise with a particularly strong financing capability, including project, acquisition, commodity and structured finance.

Location: London

PQE: 2+ years

Previous Experience: Projects, project finance or finance within the energy & infrastructure sector

The breadth of the practice is a significant attraction. You could work across renewables, nuclear, energy transition, digital infrastructure and data centres, CCUS, low-carbon fuels, batteries and storage, transport infrastructure, mining, oil & gas and LNG, with matters regularly spanning multiple jurisdictions.

Associates are not expected to arrive with experience across every area. The team is interested in lawyers with a strong foundation in projects, project finance or energy and infrastructure finance who want to broaden their experience within a genuinely sector-focused practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on major UK and international energy and infrastructure projects
  • Working across project finance, acquisition finance and commodity finance transactions
  • Advising on projects involving renewables, nuclear, digital infrastructure, CCUS, low-carbon fuels, transport and conventional energy
  • Supporting commercial arrangements including JV agreements, PPAs, construction contracts and concession agreements
  • Working alongside international teams on complex cross-border transactions

About You

  • Qualified lawyer with at least 2 years' PQE or equivalent
  • Experience gained within a leading law firm
  • Strong experience in projects, project finance or finance within the energy and infrastructure sector
  • Commercial, practical and proactive, with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced international environment

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to join one of the leading Energy & Infrastructure practices in the international market, working on strategic projects and transactions across both established infrastructure and rapidly developing areas of the energy transition.

Rather than being confined to a narrow finance or projects specialism, you'll have the opportunity to develop across financing, project development, commercial contracts and regulatory matters, while working on major cross-border mandates alongside international colleagues. The team also places a strong emphasis on training and tailored career development, providing an excellent platform for an ambitious Associate looking to build a long-term career in the sector.
