Legal Counsel - Flash Charging You will join our legal team to support the business in all legal aspects. In particular, you will be embedded within the electric vehicle (EV) charging business team, working closely with the project development, civil construction, and charging point operation (CPO) functions. From project construction and commissioning through to ongoing operational compliance, you will provide pragmatic, hands‑on legal support to drive the successful rollout of our charging sites. Draft, review, negotiate and advise on a variety of complex commercial contracts relating to EV charging business mainly, and some passenger vehicle business (depending on the workload related to the flash-charging business), which may include procurement contracts, land lease contracts, equipment supply and installation contracts, construction contracts, end-customer service agreements, business cooperation and financing agreements, etc. Provide legal advice to business managers to ensure that legal issues are identified and resolved and that legal risk is managed appropriately. Handle legal disputes related to EV charging business, including coordination of dispute resolution procedures and collaboration with external lawyers. Provide support on legal compliance matters, and support the operations team to ensure that the charging business operates within a robust compliance framework, including but not limited to CPO regulations, data privacy, export control and antitrust. Provide clear and practical advice and assistance regarding legal matters to BYD’s management concerning our business activities. Summarise potential risks of current business activities and provide training to the business team. Integrate external legal advice from external counsel and coordinate input from cross‑functional teams (business, engineering, procurement, finance, etc.), liaising and cooperating with the legal team at headquarters. Master of Laws degree. Knowledge of the laws of England and Wales or US law is a plus. ~4+ years of professional legal experience, either as in-house counsel for international cooperation or an international law firm. Experience in at least two of the following areas: commercial contracts, renewable energy, automotive industry, real estate, construction law, IT and technology, Data protection, finance, corporate, regulatory compliance. ~ Good commercial/transactional negotiation skills, particularly in cross-cultural and multi-jurisdictional transactions. ~ Able to develop and implement legal strategies and solutions. ~ Excellent command of the English language - both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of Chinese is a plus. ~
