Position Overview: We are seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Business Intelligence Reporting Specialist to join our finance team. This role is pivotal in transforming our financial and operational data into actionable intelligence. You will be the go-to expert for developing and maintaining sophisticated reports and dashboards that provide critical insights into the performance of our UK dealer network and our own headquarters' operations. Your work will directly influence strategic decision‑making, drive profitability, and support our ambitious growth plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Dashboard & Report Development: Design, develop, and maintain a suite of automated reports and interactive dashboards in Microsoft Power BI (or similar) for key stakeholders across the business. Create specific dashboards for monitoring BYD UK's New Car, Used Car, and Aftersales profitability. Develop performance scorecards for the BYD UK dealer network, tracking financial and operational KPIs.
- Data Analysis & Insight Generation: Analyse complex financial and operational datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for performance improvement. Translate data into clear, compelling narratives with actionable recommendations for senior management. Provide forward‑looking analysis, including trend extrapolation and basic forecasting, to aid in business planning and strategy.
- Data Management & Integration: Work with data from multiple sources, including our Dealer Benchmarking System (DBS), ERP, and internal financial systems. Ensure data integrity and consistency across all reporting outputs by establishing and following robust data validation processes. Collaborate with IT and data teams to improve data pipelines and warehouse structures for optimal reporting performance.
- Business Partnering: Partner closely with the Finance, Sales, Aftersales, and Network Development teams to understand their reporting needs and challenges. Act as a subject matter expert for BI reporting, providing training and support to enable self‑service analytics for key users. Proactively identify new reporting requirements to support evolving business objectives.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience as a BI Reporting Specialist, Data Analyst, or similar role, ideally within an automotive, retail, or manufacturing environment.
- Expert‑level proficiency in Microsoft Power BI (including DAX, data modelling, and performance optimisation) is essential.
- Experience with Tableau or Qlik will also be considered.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and manipulation.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, Power Query, complex formulas).
- Solid understanding of financial principles and P&L statements, with the ability to analyse profitability drivers.
- Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for data accuracy.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice‑to‑Haves)
- Experience with automotive‑specific data sources (e.g., Dealer Management Systems like Pinewood, CDK, or Keyloop).
- Experience with ERP and CRM systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, HubSpot).
- Understanding of the UK automotive market, including dealer network operations.
- A degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
