Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Auto Finance Manager to support BYD’s finance and leasing activities in a specific European market. This role focuses on developing, coordinating, and implementing local retail, captive leasing and any other finance solutions in close cooperation with local internal teams and external partners (banks, leasing companies, and dealers, etc.). The position requires strong financial acumen, experience in auto finance/leasing, and excellent stakeholder management skills to support BYD’s business growth in the local market.
Key Responsibilities
- Auto Finance / Captive Lease
- Work with local finance, sales, aftersales and legal teams to develop and roll out finance programs.
- Design and manage retail and business finance products (leasing, loans, balloon, etc.) to support BYD’s sales targets.
- Partner with banks and leasing companies to optimise offers, pricing and customer experience.
- Track portfolio performance (penetration, margin, risk) and report insights to management.
- Wholesale & Dealer Financing
- Establish and manage relationships with local banks, lenders, and other financial partners to secure competitive funding lines.
- Negotiate wholesale credit facilities to support BYD’s dealer network development and expansion in the country.
- Optimise floorplan (inventory) financing structures to align dealer stock levels with local market demand.
- Conduct financial health assessments for franchise/dealer partners and provide risk‑based recommendations.
- Strategy, Market Intelligence & Compliance
- Monitor and assess local market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments in auto finance and leasing to support strategic decision‑making.
- Ensure regulatory and internal policy compliance across all local financing and leasing activities.
- Coordinate with BYD Group finance and legal teams on cross‑border and group‑level financing agreements that impact the local market.
- Prepare and present strategic reports, business cases, and improvement suggestions to senior management.
- Stakeholder Management & Training
- Act as a liaison between BYD Europe HQ and the local country teams, ensuring consistent implementation of leasing and finance policies, products, and frameworks.
- Deliver training to local sales and dealer staff on finance/leasing product features, processes, and digital sales tools.
- Travel within the country (and occasionally to other BYD locations) to meet with leasing partners, banks, dealers, and internal stakeholders.
- Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by the Finance Controller or senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related fields.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in auto finance, preferably within captive finance, leasing companies or banks.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem‑solving skills, with experience in financial analysis and portfolio monitoring.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with external partners and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in English is required; additional European languages (e.g. French, German, Dutch) are an advantage.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in auto finance/leasing in the local market.
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, international environment, and to manage multiple projects.
