Job Responsibilities:
- Customs Management
- Familiarity and interpretation of EU customs import and export policies to reduce operational costs for the company.
- Overseeing the engagement and evaluation of customs clearance service providers and consulting firms, and planning cost optimization schemes for local customs clearance services.
- Representing BYD to maintain relationships with local customs authorities and relevant regulatory authorities, handling customs audits, customs affairs disputes, and addressing issues such as inspections and abnormal situations, and formulating emergency response plans.
- Leading the application and maintenance of the AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) certification for BYD's legal entity within the EU, complying with the headquarters’ customs requirements, and hosting regular internal audits for local customs business.
- Compliance of Declaration Data and Processes
- Regularly reviewing declaration data, establishing systems for managing and archiving import and export data, and ensuring compliance with headquarters' system and process development requirements to guarantee accurate and traceable declarations.
- Leading the establishment of local customs compliance inspection mechanisms and customs audit response strategies, and improving internal processes.
- Customs Classification Review and Defense
- Regularly reviewing local import and export customs codes, mastering local trade preferential policies and relevant tariffs codes, conducting precise tariff analysis to classify imported and exported goods.
- Keeping abreast of changes in customs codes and trade policies, supporting the company’s classification defense and BOI/BTI application technical support work.
- Cross-Departmental Support
- Ensuring that BYD's customs management and processes comply with local customs regulatory requirements, formulating and perfecting internal customs operation norms and process manuals, regularly organizing employee compliance training to strengthen their compliance awareness.
- Coordinating with internal departments, headquarters, and various business units, as well as external partners, to take reasonable measures to resolve issues, minimizing the impact of abnormal situations on the company’s import and export business.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or above, with a preference for majors in customs management, international trade, logistics management, supply chain management, law, finance, or economics.
- Work Experience: At least 8 years of experience in customs compliance management, with preference for experience in EU customs, large manufacturing enterprises, renowned accounting firms, and law firms.
- Familiarity with EU customs regulatory policies and internal customs compliance management: including customs valuation, customs classification, and origin, with experience in leading customs audits and defense responses.
- Strong cross-departmental communication skills, capable of representing the company to efficiently engage with government agencies such as customs and tax authorities.
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken, capable of leading and participating in various large English meetings. Candidates proficient in German, French, Dutch or other European languages will be given priority.
