Position Overview: This requirement is for Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) Code 311, which is responsible for assisting PMS 339 with Hull Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) Training development and for conducting interim training for DDG New Acquisition, DDG Modernization, and CG Modernization. Training Specialists may be required to support these events for up to twelve (12) hours a day, depending on course schedule. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand but are not anticipated to be frequent. Work location is primarily Norfolk, VA.
Responsibilities: Training Specialists will support CG 47 and DDG 51 HM&E modernization (MOD) programs, including new construction DDG training events and system refresher training events held at various Naval Stations around the world. Instructional support may be expanded to include FFG(X) or other emerging programs. Training administration includes the development and/or revision of curriculums, agendas, engineering training team drills, walkthroughs and certifications, engineering and technical services applicable to the design, development of the CG 47, DDG 51, and other surface ship classes HM&E upgrades or modernization. The Training Specialists will independently oversee the crew present at events, teaching and answering questions on the curriculum.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Five (5) years of experience as Navy instructor and Gas Turbine Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) qualification.
- Certified as a Navy Master Training Specialist (MTS).
- Ten (10) years of shipboard Gas Turbine Systems Technician Mechanical/Electrical (GSM/GSE) experience.
- Experience with DDG Post-Modernization/New Construction Machinery Controls System (MCS).
- Experience with instructional design for the U.S. Navy Interactive Learning Environment (ILE) and experience in media production techniques and methods.
- Ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner via verbal presentations, producing written products, or otherwise informing senior stakeholders at the senior executive level.
- Ability to juggle, manage, and complete multiple projects.
- Prior experience working on cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment is a plus.
- Experience with the Microsoft Office product suite, and the ability to learn new software.
- Must have Gas Turbine Experience as referenced above.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications: Relevant technical certifications.
Special Requirements/Security Clearance: Ability to obtain a clearance. 20-50% travel contingent upon training schedule.
